Tue, 01/11/2022 - 05:00

MORENO VALLEY, CALIF. – To highlight the urgent need for blood during the ongoing critical blood shortage, Jennifer Cruikshank, CEO of Riverside University Health System Medical Center, and other RUHS leaders will donate blood at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, at LifeStream’s mobile blood drive at the RUHS Medical Center Education Building, 26516 Cactus Ave, Moreno Valley.

“The ongoing critical blood shortage continues to threaten patient care across the region,” said Dr. Rick Axelrod, LifeStream President/CEO & Medical Director. “Riverside University Health System - Medical Center has been a wonderful partner during this challenging time. Our monthly blood drives on its campus are essential for the patients we serve. A huge thank you to RUHS's leadership for giving the precious gift of blood.”

In addition to collecting blood at fixed-site donor centers, LifeStream conducts about 1,700 mobile blood drives annually throughout its service area. In partnership with RUHS Medical Center, LifeStream holds monthly blood drives on its campus.

"We all personally know someone in our lives that was in a serious accident or facing a life-threatening health condition and urgently needed blood," said Cruikshank. "If you know anyone that has needed blood, that means someone else really needs your help too. Blood is not readily available. Donate blood, and we can save lives, together.”

Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome at all LifeStream mobile blood drives and donor centers. Donors must be at least 15 years of age (15 and 16-year-olds require a signed parental consent form), weigh at least 115 pounds, present current photo ID and be in good health.
