Legislative Breakfast Event to Celebrate Women Veterans Recognition Day 2024 and VA Centers
Thu, 06/06/2024 - 05:00
The Riverside County Veterans’ Advisory Committee will host its next Legislative Breakfast event on Friday June 14, 2024, at 8 a.m. at American Legion Post 328 located at 3888 Old Hamner Rd, Norco, CA 92860.
This month’s veteran-related topic is “All About VA Vet Centers” presented by Mark Parker, outreach specialist at the VA Vet Center in Temecula. VA Vet Centers are community-based counseling centers that provide a wide range of social and psychological services, including professional counseling to eligible veterans, service members, including National Guard and Reserve components, and their families. Counseling is offered to facilitate a successful transition from military to civilian life or after a traumatic event experienced in the military, including military sexual trauma. Individual, group, marriage and family counseling are offered, in addition to referrals and connections to other VA or community services. Vet Center counselors and outreach staff are often veterans experienced and prepared to discuss the tragedies of war, loss, grief and transition after trauma.
Additionally, we will conduct a “Women Veterans Day 2024 Appreciation Ceremony,” during which Women Veterans will be recognized with certificates of appreciation from several organizations, including the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. This event is open to the public. On-site parking is free and breakfast refreshments will be provided at no cost.
