Notice of Class Settlements for Youth Accountability Team

Earlier this year, the Riverside County Probation Department reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union. The suit pertained to a youth diversion program known as the Youth Accountability Teams (YAT). Parents, schools, resource officers and local law enforcement refer youth exhibiting at-risk behavior to YAT. Moving forward, the Probation Department will change how youth are referred to YAT, as well as provide an investment of nearly $8 million to community-based organizations that help at-risk youth.
As part of the settlement agreement, the county is providing the following notices to all youth who have participated in the YAT program. For more information, read the notices below:
