Free Legal Clinics For Veterans

Tue, 22/10/2019 - 05:00

Veterans and dependents get free legal advice on civil matters.

The Riverside County Veterans’ Services and Veterans Legal Institute (VLI) now offer free legal clinics for at risk and low income veterans and their dependents.

Veterans are invited to receive free legal advice and assistance on civil matters on the topics of: healthcare, landlord and tenant housing, immigration, discharge upgrades, bankruptcy, license renewals, consumer law, estate planning and expungements.

"Veterans have a tremendous need for legal services in Riverside county,” said Grant Gautsche, director of Riverside County Department of Veterans’ Services. “By partnering with the Veterans Legal Institute and receiving Prop 63 grant funds, we now have a great opportunity for veterans and their dependents to get the legal assistance they need.”

The $49,000 grant could benefit approximately 100 veterans.

The free legal clinics take place every third Tuesday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Riverside County Department of Veterans’ Services located at 4360 Orange St. in Riverside.  The next available clinic is September 17.

Interested veterans are encouraged to set up an appointment as walk-ins are not guaranteed. For more information please call (951) 955-3060.
