Supervisor Gutierrez Brings First-Ever Movies Under the Stars to Calimesa

Calimesa, CA – August 16, 2024 - Fifth District County of Riverside Supervisor Gutierrez held Calimesa's first-ever Movies Under the Stars in partnership with the City of Calimesa and the Beaumont-Cherry Valley Recreation and Park District (BCVRPD) at Summerwind Park on August 9, 2024.

The City of Calimesa partnered with the Beaumont-Cherry Valley Recreation and Park District to bring this event to Calimesa. In support of the event, Supervisor Gutierrez funded the event by contributing $3,000 in Community Improvement Designation (CID) funds.

The event began at 7pm and featured local food and snack vendors, a kids fun zone for youth to enjoy, and popcorn provided by the City of Calimesa. After sunset, the movie Cars, by Disney and Pixar, played for residents to watch.

Calimesa's City Manager Will Kolbow commented, “The City of Calimesa is proud to partner with Supervisor Gutierrez and the Beaumont-Cherry Valley Recreation and Park District to host our first-ever Movies under the Stars. We hope to be able to put more events like this together in the future to bring our community together!”

"I love events like these. They really help bring us all together to relax and have fun. And we need more times to enjoy ourselves," Supervisor Gutierrez remarked. "That’s why we proudly provided $3,000 in Community Improvement Designation Funds to help make tonight possible. But tonight would not be possible without you all."

BCVRPD General Manager Mickey Valdivia said, “We are so excited about our Partnership with Calimesa to be able to co-host events like these! Thank you Supervisor Gutierrez for funding this event and thank you to everyone who came!”
