Kids Eco Day is fun, free, one-day event for families to learn about waste reduction

Kids Eco Day (formerly Kids Summer Recycle Camp) is back for its third year! Join the Department of Waste Resources at this community event on Saturday, June 28 from 10 am to 12 pm at 14310 Frederick St., Moreno Valley 92553.

This free event is a fun way to introduce both kids and their families to the concept of waste reduction, responsible disposal, and sustainability. Kids will be able to use their imagination to transform unwanted materials into beautiful crafts they can take home, such as charms for their backpacks, suncatchers, and collages. After completing their projects, participants can head over to the face painting station or leave their mark on the sidewalk chalk community art project.

All participating children will be entered into a drawing to win an eco-friendly summer goodie bag that includes reef-safe sunscreen, a beach tote, and a reusable water bottle.

Riverside County organizations, including Eastern Municipal Water District and Riverside County Library System, will be in attendance to share information about their free resources and services.

The Department of Waste Resources offers a variety of FREE environmental education classes and services. These programs are offered to increase awareness of waste reduction and advantages of recycling to help preserve valuable space in county landfills.
