County Agencies and Partners Join Together to Improve Outcomes for At-Risk Families

MORENO VALLEY, Calif — More than 290 human services professionals who specialize in child abuse prevention gathered and collaborated Wednesday, November 2, to improve services and outcomes for at-risk children and families.
The Riverside County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), Riverside County Probation and HOPE Collaborative for Child Abuse Prevention hosted the Community Partners Forum at the Moreno Valley Convention Center in-person for the first time since 2019.
“It’s great to connect face-to-face with our community partners,” said DPSS Assistant Director of Children’s Services Charity Douglas. “Strong partnerships are vital to the success of integrating services, which help children and youth thrive and achieve best possible outcomes. I appreciate everyone’s dedication and commitment to building a strong support for our community.”
Attendees received updates on the System Improvement Plan (SIP) which spotlights what the county is doing to improve child welfare and probation services.
This year, Boys Republic, a nonprofit school and treatment community for at-risk youth, catered the event. The organization seeks to help youth with behavioral, educational, and emotional difficulties strengthen their skills to lead healthy and happy lives.
The forum also included a panel discussion about Riverside County’s Quality Parenting Initiative (QPI). QPI is a collaboration between resource parents and birth parents to best serve the complex needs of children receiving services. Attendees participated in breakout groups to discuss strategies for further integrating QPI into county agencies and the community.
