County waste department to host virtual RivCo Recycles Community Summit featuring business, residential and school tracks on Nov. 15-17

November 14, 2022

NEWS RELEASE

The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources will be hosting a free online RivCo Recycles Community Summit. This annual three-day, virtual discussion takes place on Nov. 15-17, and will cater to businesses, residents, and schools.

This interactive webinar will devote specific days to business, residential, and school tracks. Attendees can join the track that best fits their interests or needs and learn all about resources relating to those topics. The event will take place from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. on each of the days, and will feature conversations with industry professionals, live presentations, and plenty of information about recycling.

The summit will kick off Nov. 15 with a business track designed to inform Riverside County proprietors and managers about tools available to expand their recycling practices and comply with legislation. Topics include: food waste/food rescue, statewide recycling regulations, sustainability, and a presentation by Albertsons on their recycling efforts.  Nov. 16 will turn the focus from businesses to residents, as material will shift away from the workplace and into the home. Topics will include organic waste recycling for residents, multifamily dwellings, community composting, and climate change.  Thursday Nov. 17 will have presentations that will be beneficial to education and school facilities. Topics include: legislation, organics recycling at schools, UCR Zero Waste, and RCC Sustainability programs.

All sessions are virtual and can be accessed during the RivCo Community Summit through the Webex link on our website: https://www.rcwaste.org/outreach/rivcorecycles.  These programs are offered to educate businesses and residents about recycling and how recycling preserves valuable space in county landfills.
