Free DIY Teacup Succulent Workshop Promotes Sustainability & Creativity

April 8, 2025

The Department of Waste Resources has partnered with the Assistance League of Riverside for our annual DIY Teacup Succulent event! Join us to repurpose unwanted teacups and mugs into beautiful arrangements and divert unnecessary waste from landfills.

On Saturday, April 19, Waste Resources will be hosting a free do-it-yourself Teacup Succulent Workshop from 9 am to 10:30 am. This hands-on event is a perfect way to give teacups and mugs a new life. Learn how to plant succulents, a sturdy and drought-resistant plant, from our experienced staff and leave with a personalized creation that will surely spruce up an indoor or outdoor space.

Repurposing everyday objects is a simple yet effective way to minimize landfill waste and contribute to a more sustainable future. Only about 10-30% of donations are actually purchased at thrift stores--- by participating in this workshop, attendees will gain practical insights into waste reduction and creative upcycling, proving that sustainability can be easy and rewarding.

This is a perfect event to prepare a gift for Mother’s Day, as a couple’s activity, for families with young children, thrifty plant lovers, or eco-conscious individuals!

Spaces are limited. All tools will be provided. Supplies are first-come, first-serve. Registration is required: https://bit.ly/4477uZI
