Join the Zero Waste Hero challenge and you may win a Waste Resources’ planet protector kit!

January 24, 2025

The Department of Waste Resources is ready to help residents stick to their sustainable New Year’s resolutions with the Zero Waste Hero program. This virtual experience will challenge Riverside County residents throughout the month of January to incorporate more eco-friendly practices into their daily lives.

By completing challenges posted on the Department’s Instagram and Facebook accounts, residents will automatically be entered into a prize drawing for a variety of eco-friendly items. Each week, a resident will be selected to win an eco-friendly prize, and all participants will be entered into the grand prize drawing for their choice of a home composting system, Olla watering system, or green cleaning kit. Our first two winners were Perris residents!

No registration is required. The full list of rules is available here. This week is your last chance to enter! The challenge starts on Thursday, January 23, and the last challenge will be released on Monday, January 27.

The Department of Waste Resources offers a variety of FREE environmental education classes related to waste reduction and sustainability. Class instructors provide attendees with professional learning and resources for instructional materials.
