Pinwheel to back child abuse prevention efforts

RUHS Foundation teams up with Cupcake & Espresso Bar during child abuse prevention month
Pinwheels can be purchased for $5 donation at all Cupcake & Espresso Bar locations
A partnership between RUHS Foundation and Cupcake & Espresso Bar is making the month of April sweeter than their tasty treats by allowing customers to purchase a pinwheel to back child abuse prevention efforts.
In support of RUHS Foundation’s 2023 Pinwheels For Prevention campaign, customers can buy a blue pinwheel for a $5 donation at any of the four of Cupcake & Espresso Bar locations. The funds will provide care, expand services and assistance provided to foster children and at the Riverside County Child Assessment Center (RCCAT), as well as other county programs that provide support to children experiencing abuse and neglect countywide.
Cupcake & Espresso Bar owners Fadi and Carina Ballout were inspired to partner with RUHS Foundation after touring RUHS’s Moreno Valley Medical Center. The tour highlighted the work being done in Riverside County and specifically in RCCAT to help residents in the surrounding community. “Our businesses are centered around the hospital,” said Fadi Ballout. “We have three locations in Moreno Valley, and it makes you want to be involved.”
The partnership hopes to raise money during the month-long campaign, but shining a spotlight on the programs and resources available to residents in Riverside County is just as important.
“Our hope is to raise money, but definitely raise awareness,” said Carina Ballout. “This is a great program available to families and children that may be experiencing child abuse.”
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and serves as a reminder that everyone
has a role in helping to protect our most cherished resource—our children. There is no better
time to help raise awareness and support prevention efforts on behalf of all children who are
suffering from the physical and emotional impact of abuse. The pinwheel is the national symbol of child abuse prevention, and invokes the spirit of a child’s playfulness and the simple joy of childhood—something all children should have.
