Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Celebrates Completion of Santa Ana River Trail Signage Project

May 7, 2025

The Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District invites the public and media to attend the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Santa Ana River Trail Signage Project, taking place Friday  May 9, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Martha McLean-Anza Narrows Park in Riverside, California.

This milestone project brings the installation of more than 230 new wayfinding signs along 20 miles of the existing Santa Ana River Trail (SART) in Riverside County. The signage includes interpretive panels, kiosks with maps, monuments, directional markers, and safety signs—all designed to enhance the trail user experience, improve navigation, and celebrate the natural and cultural history of the region.

“The Santa Ana River Trail not only enhances recreational opportunities and active transportation options for our residents, but also strengthens our commitment to sustainability, connectivity, and regional collaboration.” said Karen Spiegel, Second District, Riverside County Board of Supervisors

The project was made possible through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and in partnership with multiple agencies including the Cities of Riverside, Norco, Eastvale, and Corona; Jurupa Community Services District; the National Park Service; and the California State Coastal Conservancy.

The new SART logo and signage, designed by Alta Planning + Design, Inc., also incorporates the long standing partnership between the Counties of Riverside, San Bernardino, and Orange.

“The City of Riverside is proud to partner in this project, which will use creative signage to enhance the experience, help users navigate the trail with ease, and share the rich history of our region. We are fortunate to have this natural treasure in our community, offering both recreation and a deeper connection to our region, and these signs will make that great experience even better” said City of Riverside Mayor, Patricia Lock-Dawson.

Community members, cyclists, and trail users are invited to join us for this special celebration.
