RivCo Animal Services to Host Fee-Waived Adoption Event on June 7
June 3, 2025
Riverside, CA – On Saturday, June 7, Riverside County Department of Animal Services will join more than 150 California animal shelters in holding fee-waived adoption events as part of the second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day, hosted by the California Animal Welfare Association (CalAnimals), the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SF SPCA), and the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®).
“We have so many wonderful animals that have lost their homes and are looking for a new one,” said RCDAS Director Mary Martin. “Please help us make room for those in need by adopting and fostering. Come down to our shelters, and we will help you find a great match.”
With over 1,000 dogs in its shelter system, RCDAS shelters are experiencing over 220% capacity of dogs in kennels designed for less than half that number. Overcrowding and long-term kennel confinement can take a significant toll on dogs both physically and behaviorally, with many staying at the shelter for over 100 days.
Community members are encouraged to show up in person to adopt or foster a pet and take them home the same day. Dogs like Myers, a two-year old Shepherd mix who has been at the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter for over 235 days, are patiently waiting to find their forever homes.
WHEN: Saturday, June 7, 2025 10:00am-4:00pm
WHERE:
- Riverside Western County/City Animal Shelter 6851 Van Buren Blvd, Jurupa Valley, CA 92509
- San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus 581 S. Grand Ave, San Jacinto, CA 92582
- Coachella Valley Animal Campus 72-050 Pet Land Pl, Thousand Palms, CA 92276
WHY: All adoptions include age-appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and microchips.
“We are stronger together, and every adoption exemplifies our commitment to Riverside County pets,” said Fifth District Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez. “As a dog owner, I cherish all the joy and love our furry friends give us. We need loving families to help us give these pets the lives they deserve.”
