Celebrate Earth Day

April 21, 2023

Riverside County celebrates Earth Day at different community events

April 22 is not just another beautiful spring day but, most importantly, Earth Day. Every year Riverside County celebrates Mother Earth, particularly within two departments: RivCo Parks and Waste Resources, which host different events, including trail clean-ups, hazardous waste disposal, and tree planting, among other activities.

Starting this Saturday and for the upcoming week, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to connect with the great outdoors, protect the environment and preserve our planet.

RivCo Parks is co-hosting an Earth Day Blues Festival on April 22 from 2 pm. to 6 pm. at Gilman Ranch in Banning. General admission is $10, $5 for veterans, seniors, and children, and parking is free.

Then on April 28, it is hosting Arbor Day at Crestmore Manor and Rancho Jurupa Regional Park from 8 am to 12 pm. During this free event that provides lunch, the goal is to install between 10 and 12 trees. But volunteers are needed to beautify the space. Those interested in gifting their time, please call (951)955-6172 or email [email protected]

Waste Resources will be participating as exhibitors in several community events in Jurupa Valley, Murrieta, Perris, and Riverside, including the Community Demonstration Garden in Moreno Valley Saturday, April 22, with a Composting presentation at 10am.  The Moreno Valley Earth Day event will be from 9am to 1pm.

It will also offer free household hazardous waste collection even in the same area same day at the City of Moreno Valley Maintenance Yard from 9 am to 2 pm to ensure residents safely dispose of toxic products.

This series of events in celebration of Earth Day can help make a difference in the environment, not just in the coming days but for years to come. Don’t miss the chance to contribute to making our planet greener and cleaner.
