Riverside County Animal Services to host Second Annual ‘Barkchella’ free pet adoption event

April 12, 2024

In the spirit of the Coachella musical festival, where thousands come together to celebrate a love for music, Riverside County Department of Animal Services (RCDAS) is set to host its annual Barkchella free pet adoption event so that residents may gather to help shelter pets find a new and loving home.

“So many people have a heart for animals and want to see them loved and protected. Barkchella is a great way for the community to help our shelter pets find a new reality in a new home,” said Erin Gettis, director, Riverside County Department of Animal Services.

All pet adoptions are FREE on Saturday, Apr. 13 and 20 at the following shelter locations:

  • Coachella Valley Animal Campus, located at 72-050 Pet Land Place in Thousand Palms (Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
  • San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus, located at 581 S. Grand Ave., in San Jacinto (Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
  • Western Riverside Animal Shelter, located at 6851 Van Buren Ave., in Jurupa Valley (Hours: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

Additionally, Riverside County partners plan to table at selected shelter locations to share resources to include: First 5 Riverside (Coachella Valley Animal Campus on Apr. 20); Community Action Partnership and Riverside University Health System (Western Riverside shelter on Apr. 13); and representatives from Riverside County Code Enforcement and Fifth District Supervisor Yxstian Gutierrez’ office at the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus on Apr. 13 and 20.

“We are always grateful to everyone for coming together in this way to support Riverside County shelter pets and we look forward to seeing everyone at our shelters for the Barkchella pet adoptions to help save lives,” Gettis said.
