NEWS RELEASE

The Board of Supervisors will name Minh Tran to the position of county counsel at its August 30 board meeting. Tran's return to the County of Riverside is a homecoming. His decades of public service include 10 years as a deputy county counsel for the County of Riverside in the same office he will now lead.

The county counsel is the top lawyer for the County of Riverside and manages a team that provides crucial legal support to county departments. “Minh is an exceptional leader with discerning judgment and a strong legal acumen,” said Board Chair Jeff Hewitt, Fifth District Supervisor. “I look forward to working with Minh to continue finding innovative solutions for Riverside County residents.”

Tran has more than 28 years of experience working in law and government, including the last five years serving as County Executive Officer (CEO) for the County of Napa. At times over the past five years, Tran held a dual role as both CEO and County Counsel in Napa County.

Tran earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of California, Riverside and his juris doctorate from the University of La Verne, College of Law. He has practiced law in both the private and public sectors.

“I am honored to serve in this new capacity with the County of Riverside,” said Tran. “Returning to Riverside County is exciting, both professionally and personally, and I look forward to joining a team dedicated to driving the county forward.”

Tran’s first day in the new position will be Aug. 30. The annual salary for county counsel will be $285,000.
