Agricultural Commissioner

The Riverside County Agricultural Commissioner's Office is entrusted with the mission of promoting and protecting the agricultural industry of the County and its environment, ensuring the health and safety of the County's citizens, and fostering confidence and equity in the marketplace through education and the fair and uniform enforcement of laws, regulation, and ordinances enacted by the people of the State of California and the County of Riverside.

Assessor Clerk-Recorder

Our mission is to fulfill the legally and locally mandated functions of the Assessor, County Clerk, Recorder, and Records Management Program in an accurate, timely, professional and courteous manner and to ensure high quality service.

Auditor Controller

The Riverside County Auditor-Controller is an independent, nonpartisan elected office established to provide accounting, audit, payroll, and property tax administration services to County government, cities, K-14 schools and special districts. The Auditor-Controller is the chief accounting and disbursement officer of the County. Riverside County is the fourth largest county in California and the eleventh largest in the United States.

Behavioral Health

This program provides treatment and support services to transition age youth, adults and older adults who have a mental illness and children. The department also administers the public guardian program, which provides a vital service to persons unable to properly care for themselves or who are unable to manage their finances. 

Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of the County of Riverside, certain special districts and the Housing Authority. The board enacts ordinances and resolutions, adopts the annual budget, approves contracts appropriates funds, determines land use zoning for the unincorporated area, appoints certain County officers and members of various boards and commissions.

Building & Safety

The Building and Safety Department is dedicated to providing the citizens of Riverside County with courteous, efficient and cost effective services with the goal of improving the quality of life and orderly economic development by the provision and management of grading, building inspection and code enforcement within the integrated Transportation and Land Management Agency activities.

Child Support Services

The Riverside County Department of Child Support Services works with parents and guardians to ensure children and families receive court-ordered financial and medical support. Services provided included locating, establishing paternity; establishing, modifying and enforcing a court order for child support; and establishing, modifying and enforcing an order for health coverage.

Clerk of the Board

The Clerk of the Board performs numerous duties in fulfilling its charge to provide support to the Board of Supervisors and information to the public.

Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Department is responsible for enforcing over twenty-four Riverside County Ordinances as well as various state and federal laws in the unincorporated areas of Riverside County. Code Enforcement activities contribute to safe, healthy, sustainable communities and preservation of water quality and natural resources. The Department seeks to strike a balance between enforcement and compliance by engaging in a community oriented approach geared toward achieving voluntary compliance. Code Enforcement staff use administrative, civil and criminal remedies to address and resolve code violations.

Cooperative Extension

The Cooperative Extension's programs enhance the quality of life, the environment and economic well-being of residents through research and education. Educational programs include agriculture, nutrition, family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development and master gardening classes.

County Counsel

The Office of County Counsel is a full-service law office that handles civil matters for the County of Riverside. The office provides advisory and litigation support on issues of vital concern to the County and its residents such as health care, public safety, child welfare, land development, environmental protection, public finance, taxation and elections. The office is staffed by experienced attorneys who have dedicated their careers to public service.

District Attorney

The District Attorney is the public prosecutor acting on behalf of the People to vigorously enforce the law, pursue the truth, and safeguard the rights of all to ensure that justice is done on behalf of our community. 

Office of Economic Development

The Office of Economic Development is responsible for many of the programs that support businesses and contribute to the great quality of life in our communities. Other economic development services include the film commission and foreign trade programs.

Emergency Management Department

The County of Riverside Emergency Management Department (EMD) enhances the safety and security of the whole community by leading the efforts to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters. 

Environmental Health

Riverside County Department of Environmental Health is dedicated to protecting the health of people and the environment in Riverside County.

Executive Office

The County Executive Office's mission is to support and implement board policies and priorities, provide organizational direction and leadership, and foster efficient and effective management of the county workforce and activities. The Executive Office also assists in the establishment and administration of community facilities districts, assessment districts and mello roos within Riverside County.

Facilities Management

The Facilities Management department includes the space management office, parking division, maintenance division and custodial services.

Fire Department

The CALFIRE/Riverside County Fire Department provides fire protection and first response services to all unincorporated areas and specific contract cities within Riverside County.

Housing and Workforce Solutions

The mission of the Housing, Homeless Prevention and Workforce Solutions department is to transform and promote healthy, thriving communities, reignite hope and restore human dignity through the creation and preservation of programs that enhance quality of life. The Riverside County Workforce Development Board provides oversight for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programs in the county. Housing and Workforce Solutions also provides programs under the Community Action Partnership to strengthen the community through self-sufficiency. Programs include tax preparation, utility assistance, dispute resolution, and job training for veterans.

Office on Aging

The Riverside County Office on Aging serves to promote and support a life of dignity, well-being and independence for older adults and persons with disabilities.

Parks & Open Space District

The mission of the Park District is to acquire, protect, develop, manage, and interpret for the inspiration, use, and enjoyment of all people, a well-balanced system of park related places of outstanding scenic, recreational, and historic importance.

Planning

It is the goal of the Planning Department to provide timely, responsive and helpful service to all members of the public and promote innovative  development that effectively accommodates a balance of housing, employment and service opportunities.

Probation

The Probation Department provides services that range from conducting investigations on adult and juvenile criminal offenders; providing intensive supervision and early intervention and treatment services; high profile task force assignments; and providing juvenile institutional detention and treatment programs throughout the county.

Public Defender

It is the mission of this office to provide the most competent and professional legal representation possible to those individuals who are charged with a crime or involved in certain civil matters.

Public Health

Riverside University Health System-Public Health promotes and protects the health of all County residents and visitors in service of the well-being of the community.

Public Social Services

The Riverside County Department of Public Social Services provides nutrition benefits, temporary financial assistance and employment services for qualified families and individuals. The department also offers access to healthcare coverage to low income individuals and families and provides protective services for children and adults at risk of abuse and neglect

Purchasing & Fleet Services

The business of the County government consumes large amounts of goods and services which the Purchasing Department tasks to procure. The department generally creates bids for most items, and in the case of repetitively purchased items, establishes long term contract that may be for periods of one to five years in length.

Registrar of Voters

The Registrar of Voters ensures the electoral process will be conducted professionally, consistently demonstrating neutrality and non-partisan decision-making, based upon a thorough knowledge of and compliance with all election laws by administering them timely, responsively and with integrity on behalf of those we serve.

Riverside University Health System-Medical Center

​​​Riverside University Health System (RUHS) includes the 439-bed Medical Center in Moreno Valley, 10 Federally Qualified Health Centers and several primary and specialty clinics throughout Riverside County, and the departments of Behavioral and Public Health. RUHS has been the foundation of health care, community wellness and medical education in Riverside County for more than 100 years and employs about 6,000 team members.

Sheriff-Coroner

The Sheriff-Coroner department is dedicated to suppressing and preventing crime through the reduction of criminal recidivism. The department upholds both the United States and California constitutions, the reasonable enforcement of all federal and state laws or ordinances, and all required mandates of the elected Sheriff. The department provides court security, service of civil processes, executes lawful orders of the court, maintains county jails, and performs the legal functions of the Coroner-Public Administrator.

Treasurer-Tax Collector

The Riverside County Treasurer-Tax Collector is responsible for the billing and collection of property taxes, and, for the receiving, processing, investing and most importantly, safeguarding of public funds, as mandated by the laws of the state of California.

Transportation

Riverside County's Transportation Department mission is to provide the citizens of the county with increasingly more courteous, efficient, and cost effective services dedicated to improving the quality of life and orderly economic development by the provision and management of a safe, efficient and convenient transportation system, enhancing the mobility of people, goods and services within the integrated Agency activities.

Transportation & Land Management

The County of Riverside Transportation & Land Management Agency (TLMA) is the umbrella agency for six county departments. They are the Planning Department, Building & Safety Department, Transportation Department, Code Enforcement Department.

Veteran's Services

Promote and honor all veterans, and enhance their quality of life and that of their dependents and survivors through counseling, claims assistance, education, advocacy, and special projects.

Waste Resources

The Department of Waste Resources' mission is to provide for the protection of the general public health and welfare by efficient management of Riverside County's solid waste system through: provision of facilities and programs which meet or exceed all applicable local, State, Federal and land use regulations; utilization of up-to-date technological improvements; development and maintenance of a system that is balanced economically, socially and politically; and economically feasible recovery of waste materials.
